Back to work after the Con...
I'm trying to start doing warm up sketches before I start working everyday. If this works I'll try to post more often and show you what's on the drawing board.
This one was slightly inspired by the John Constantine character from Hellblazer. I'm ashamed to say that I've never read any Hellblazer. I'm not even sure if he uses guns...

The NY Comic Con turned out great! This was my fourth NYCC, but it was my first one as a "professional."
To my surprise, people had actually heard of GUERILLAS, and many fans and industry people had a lot of nice things to say about the book. I have to thank Nathan Fox for going above and beyond the call of duty and introducing me to tons of great creators. If you are unaware of his work please check it out. He is a true artist's artist.
I also did a few impromptu podcast interviews while I was on the floor and I'll post links to them when I hear they're up. There may also be a videocast interview with me in the works which would happen over at Bergen Street Comics in Brooklyn. It's a brand new store set to open on March 3rd. So if you're in the neighborhood check them out too!
I leave you with an image from the fourth issue of GUERILLAS. This one is gonna be a real thrill ride...

I will be attending the NY Comic Con for all three days this weekend! I don't have a table or any fancy signings scheduled though... Instead, I'll be wandering around handing out GUERILLAS stickers. I'm tall and I'll be wearing a GUERILLAS T-shirt, so if you see me, say hi!
If you can't find me and you want to meet up, send me an email and we can arrange a time and place... Unfortunately, I won't have any pages for sale though...

And finally the inks... But you're gonna have to wait for the final pass, because I'm probably not gonna gray it until I finish inking the rest of the pages... but when I do, I'll post it too...
Also, tomorrow I'm gonna have an interview up at the Comics And... Other Imaginary Tales Blog. I'll post a link to the actual interview when i get it.

Well it didn't happen the next day, but here's the pencil stage. Tomorrow I should have the ink version up... We'll see...

Over the next couple of days I'm gonna show you the stages the page goes through on the way to being finished... Hopefully this page won't give away too much... It's just Clayton being scared again...

Here's a sketch I did for a fan... It was done on a scrap of paper that had more tooth than I normally use. I used a brush and ink but it almost looks like a charcoal drawing...

Happy New Year!
2009 is gonna be a big year for GUERILLAS! I'm finishing up the fourth issue now, and I think it's the best issue so far. As I mentioned in the back of the third issue, I feel like the first act is finished. The characters are all in place and now it's time to have some fun with them.
I'm also hoping to get the shop going soon. We'll probably start with T-shirts of the good Doctor up there and then hopefully by summer we'll have some prints for sale.
I will also be attending the New York Comic Con in February. I missed out on getting a table in Artists Alley, but I will be around all three days.
If you haven't picked up GUERILLAS #3 here are some convincing reasons to go out and get one...
