Marvel Knights: X-Men
In 2014 I had the chance to write and draw a 5 issue Marvel Knights mini-series featuring the Uncanny X-Men (colored by Cris Peters).
“Despite being Marvel Knights, Revel doesn’t stray too far from the Marvel NOW! norm and actually benefits from it as he tells a tale that could easily stand beside the strongest X-book right now. It’s Revel’s art that makes this stand out the most, though, as he creates an atmosphere unlike any other book thanks to heavy inks and a soft colour palette from Cris Peter. This could very well count as one of the better X-Men series of the decade thanks to Brahm Revel speaking to what makes the X-Men great while stripping them down to a raw, bare bones story.” – Alice W. Castle (Multiversity)
“Honestly, Brahm Revel tackling Marvel’s merry mutants is enough of a draw for Marvel Knights: X-Men on its own, and indeed Revel’s jagged, moody art, classic small town mystery plot, and over-arching themes of accepting oneself do not disappoint.” – George Marston (Newsarama)
“More like this please, Marvel.” – Benjamin Bailey (IGN)
“Ravel’s dark, shadowy art style fits the book’s atmosphere to a T, ultimately creating what Rogue appropriately calls “another world.” A sense of imminent, otherworldly danger lurks in his bold lines, appearing especially in the woodsy, night-shrouded setting.” – Meagan Damore (CBR)
“Revel’s dynamic portrayal of anatomy and kinetic action choreography create an electric energy that propels you through the pages.” – Shawn Warner (Bag & Bored)
“His lines look more carved or etched than drawn. And ink? Dude slings inks by the barrelful which allows the moodiness of haunted places and dive bars to soak in.” – Keith Silva (Comics Bulletin)
“The art by Revel is wonderful. He’s able to balance characters against one another and infuse every face with emotion, whether it be a quiet conversation or a tense confrontation. And whenever he pulls back to show off an entire scene? The book looks incredible.” – Henry Higgins (Ain’t It Cool News)
“Revel’s art continues to impress. There’s a looseness to his style that creates a wonderful natural energy and movement on the page.” – Kelly Thompson (CBR)
